THE BENEFITS OF GOD’S WORD

Psalm 19:7-9
7 The
law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the
Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the Lord are
right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright,
enlightening the eyes.
9 The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
2 Peter 1:20-21
20 knowing this
first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private [pertaining only to
yourself] interpretation [application],
21 for prophecy
never came by the will of man [determination of man], but holy men of God spoke
as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
GOD’S WORD CONVERTS THE SOUL - The law [word] of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul:
Psalm 23:3 He restores my soul...
James 1:21 So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls.
GOD’S WORD COMMUNICATES CERTAINTY AND WISDOM - the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
'aman (aw-man'); [SURE] a primitive root; properly, [1] to build up or support; to foster as a parent or nurse; figuratively [2] to render (or be) firm or faithful, to trust or believe, to be permanent or quiet; [3]morally to be true or certain; once (Isa 30:21; interchangeable with OT:541) to go to the right hand:
Proverbs 1:1-4
1 The Proverbs (truths obscurely expressed, maxims, and parables) of Solomon son of
David, king of Israel:That people may know skillful and godly
2 Wisdom and instruction, discern and comprehend the words of understanding and
insight,
3 Receive instruction in wise dealing and the discipline of
wise thoughtfulness, righteousness, justice, and integrity,
4 That
prudence may be given to the simple, and knowledge, discretion, and discernment
to the youth--
GOD’S WORD CHEERS THE HEART - The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart:
RIGHT - straight (literally or figuratively), pleased well right (-eous) FULL OF FAITH,
REJOICING - to brighten up, i.e. (figuratively) be (causatively, make) blithe or gleesome: cheer up, (make) joy (-ful), (make) merry, (cause to, make to) rejoice.
GOD’S WORD CLEANSES THE EYES - the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
PURE - CLEAN IN MOTIVE, IN ACTION AND IN EFFECTS.
Ephesians 1:18-20
[ENLIGHTENED]
18 By
having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and
understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious
inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones),
19 And [so that you
can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing
greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working
of His mighty strength,
20 Which He exerted in Christ when He raised
Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly
[places] WE
SEE THINGS FROM A NATURAL STANDPOINT FIRST.
GOD’S WORD CONSISTS FOREVER - The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever:
GOD’S WORD CHAMPIONS RIGHTEOUSNESS - the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether
JUDGEMENT -
[1] to judge, i.e.
pronounce sentence (for or against); by implication, to vindicate or punish; [2] to govern;[3] passively, to litigate (literally
or figuratively):
